A group of OSCE experts arrived in Baku aimed at holding technical and financial support on up-dating of two obsolete storage facilities of the mГ©lange type rocket fuel, the OSCE Baku office press service told Trend.
The experts plan to identify possible ways for removal storage facilities aimed at their further rehabilitation, as well as reveal relevant technical and financial parameters of the project.
В"MelangeВ" is extremely unstable and toxic fuel element, posing potential threat for the environment”, the office noted, saying, during the visit the experts will make up the list of chemical components kept at the storage facilities, will inspect the buildings, prepare preliminary analyses of the soil and the water.
The data received and the experts’ recommendations will be taken into account while viewing the changes into the OSCE budget to fund this project.
It is also noted, NATO develops a separate project, within which complete liquidation of both storage facilities is supposed shortly.
The expert’s group’s visit will finish on 28 October.
