On Oct. 30, the chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament, Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev met with Ramil Hasanov, the Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking states, the Senate reported.
"The Speaker of the Kazakh Senate congratulated Ramil Hasanov on his appointment as the TurkPA Secretary General and expressed confidence that the secretariat of the Assembly will contribute significantly to the promotion of parliamentary cooperation and rapprochement among the fraternal peoples," said the senate.
The parties noted with satisfaction the progressive process of the Turkic integration, the report said. In this connection, Tokayev noted new initiatives and geopolitical goals of the Turkic world, set by the IX Nakhchivan Summit of Turkic states, among which the Kazakh President, Nursultan Nazarbayev's proposal on the establishment of the Turkic-speaking Academy in Astana within the TURKSOY is too important.
"The Academy, located in the sacred soil of Turkestan, engaged in study and research of the language and culture of the Turkic peoples, will fully contribute to their spiritual development and strengthening of friendship between the countries of the Turkic-speaking world," the speaker said.
Ramil Hasanov, in turn, informed the Speaker of Kazakhstan's Senate about activities of the secretariat to prepare the next plenary session of TurkPA to be held in Astana, as well as plans for convening the first congress of the Turkic-speaking parliamentarians, including members of parliaments of the European states.
"At the end of the meeting, Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev emphasized that all initiatives of the TurkPA secretariat will receive the full support by the Kazakh Parliament and Senate," the report said.
