The burial ceremony of Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi's father was interrupted by an intervention of security forces. Kaleme.com website reported on Thursday that Iranian security forces and police arrested at least seven people during the burial ceremony.
Mir Ismael Mousavi died of a disease on March 30. He was a cousin of Iranian senior spiritual leader Ayatollah Khamenei's father.
The funeral ceremony was scheduled to begin in the Hanigah settlement of Tehran, but it was interrupted by the police intervention.
"The funeral ceremony was accompanied by tough control of the police. Mousavi's body was taken to his home. The police intervened when the funeral procession passed 50 meters. Security forces picked up the body and headed to an unknown place," the news agency reported.
This caused great discontent and participants of the ceremony tried to stop them. Despite the protests, the police took the body. The Kaleme.com site named the act a "disrespect to the funeral and the deceased."
Mir Hossein Mousavi and his wife Zahra Rahnavard are kept under house
arrest since February 14. According to some Iranian state media, Mousavi and his wife were allowed to visit his father but opposition websites did not inform about it.
