Kazakh, Madagascar Foreign Ministers discuss bilateral cooperation

A meeting of Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov and his Madagascar counterpart Pierrot Jocelyn Rajaonarivelo took place in Astana on Monday, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

"During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed the promising areas of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Madagascar, as well as cooperation in the framework of international organizations, " the report says.

Idrisov stated that Kazakhstan welcomes the efforts of the UN and the African Union to resolve conflicts in a number of African countries, noting the interest of Astana in the restoration of peace and unity.

In addition, according to Idrisov, the African continent is of great interest for Kazakhstan in terms of investment in strategically important objects.

Within the negotiations the sides reached an agreement on the exchange of information between the two foreign ministries.

As a result of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Kazakhstan and Madagascar.
