Iranian parliament approved a bill to reduce the country's diplomatic ties with the United Kingdom from ambassadorial to the level of charge d'affaires.

The bill requires bringing the level of economic and trade relations with the UK to the minimum.

According to the bill, any decision to raise the level of ties with Britain will require another bill to be ratified by the parliament.

The emergency of the two-star bill was approved in the parliament on November 23. The bill is anticipated to easily attract the favorable votes of the majority of parliament which includes 290 representatives.

The initiators of the bill noted that parliament considered the bill in response to the recent UK decision to exercise sanctions against Iran's Central Bank.
