Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 28 / Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/

One Iranian Basij member and four more Pjak members have been killed as a result of yesterday's shooutout in Iran's Kurdistan, Fars reported.

Several more Pjak members were injured as a result of the shootout.

Iran an Pjak could not agree on ceasefire, as Iranian authorities asked Pjak to disarm. The fighting between Iranian military forces and Pjak has been going on, as Iran even deployed 5,000 military forces in the northwest of the country along its common border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

This is aimed to carry out military maneuvers with a view to stabilize the situation on the border area and fight the counterrevolutionary groups.

Members of the terrorist PJAK group - an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) - regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country's western borders with Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.
