The Palestinian Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) on Sunday denied it has carried a one-day military exercise in Lebanon, local Central News Agency reported.
The agency said that in a radio interview, PFLP-GC spokesman Ramez Mustafa denied the report which said the exercise included live ammunition of medium range artillery, rocket-propelled grenades and anti-tank guided missiles, Xinhua reported.
The agency's report did not give more details.
Earlier in the day, the agency reported that PFLP-GC has held a military exercise in the village of Qoussaya, a remote area near the eastern mountains of the Bekaa valley, close to the borders with Syria.
The agency quoted witnesses as saying that the PFLP-GC has been moving military hardware and ammunition lately outside their training camp and a "suspicious activity of militants were seen grueling in its vicinity."
Meanwhile, Lebanese security sources expressed fear that rockets may have been infiltrated into south Lebanon near the borders with Israel.
Lebanese army units deployed in nearby areas have lift up precautionary measures by erecting checkpoints and sending additional patrols, the Central News Agency added.
The report came one week after Said Moussa, Fatah al-Intifada Movement representative in Lebanon, rejected disarming Palestinian militants outside the refugee camps in Lebanon.
The PFLP-GC and Fatah al-Intifada were believed to be Syrian- backed and currently occupies military bases in the Bekaa valley close to the Syrian border. The PFLP-GC maintains headquarters in Damascus.
In the 2006 National Dialogue sessions, Lebanese parties agreed on the disarmament of Palestinian factions outside the country's 12 refugee camps, where more than 400,000 displaced people are registered.
Lebanese cabinet stressed last Tuesday that the country's sovereignty is "nonnegotiable" and that the Palestinian factions outside the refugee camps should be disarmed.
