Turkey's humanitarian relief agency has sent aid to 18,000 people sheltering from violence in the Central African Republic, Anadolu Agency reported.

TIKA (the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency) - in cooperation with Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs - said on Monday it was sending food and humanitarian aid to a refugee camp in Sarh, Chad's third-largest city.

With logistic support from the Turkish Embassy in Chad's capital N'Djamena, flour, rice, pasta, oil, tents and blankets were distributed to the camp's 18,000-strong population. The relief agency also plans to supply medicine and medical equipment.

TIKA, established in 1992, undertakes projects in fields such as education, health and agricultural development in 30 countries, across five continents.
