Two officers with police special forces and four insurgents, including a commander, were killed Thursday during a raid on a house in northern Afghanistan, a police spokesman said, dpa reported.

A German soldier was wounded in the operation, which Afghan and NATO-led troops conducted in Kunduz, the capital of the province with the same name, said Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, Kunduz police spokesman.

Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Wali and three of his associates were killed and three militants were arrested, Hussaini said.

NATO officials said they were unable to confirm the details regarding the operation, but the military alliance said two Afghan-NATO joint operations took place in Kunduz province.

In the Kunduz city operation, they arrested six insurgents Thursday while in the Qal-i-Zal district, they killed Taliban leader Abdul Qahar and one other insurgent Wednesday in an airstrike, NATO said.
