Vladimir Putin talks with Barack Obama on Boston attack

US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke Friday about the terrorist attack in Boston, where a manhunt was underway for a suspect believed to be an ethnic Chechen, DPA reported.

Putin offered condolences for the loss of life in the attack, the White House said.

Obama thanked him for "the close cooperation that the United States has received from Russia on counter-terrorism, including in the wake of the Boston attack," spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement.
