Azerbaijan, Baku, August 17 / Trend E. Ostapenko /
The continuation of Baku-Tel-Aviv flights is beneficial for both countries as the interest is not only a commercial one, the Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Michael Lavon-Lotem, said on August 17.
"There are political, economic and commercial interests in the continuation of these air flights," the Ambassador said.
Azerbaijani Airlines CJSC and the Israeli side will go on with talks on the continuation of Baku-Tel Aviv air flights. Flights to Israel remain on the schedule till October 25, AZAL said.
A meeting between representatives of the Israeli Department of Civil Aviation, local and Israeli security agencies, and the Heydar Aliyev International Airport administration was held in Baku on July 18.
Certain differences on ensuring security for Arkia company flights were revealed at this meeting.
Deputy Director of the Israeli Civil Aviation Administration, Avi Ben-Hur, called the security measures taken by Azerbaijan as insufficient. It does not permit Arkia planes to land in Baku.
The Israeli side offers to ensure its own aircrafts' safety in the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
For 16 years only AZAL CJSC aircrafts have operated in this area. Arkia Israeli Airlines received a license to make Tel-Aviv-Baku flights in 2008.
