Russian FM congratulates Azerbaijani counterpart on 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, a letter posted on the site of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
'Please accept my heartiest congratulations on the occasion of the memorable date for our countries and people, the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan', the letter said.
Great joint work has been done historically during a short period to strengthen the foundation of our cooperation and bilateral relations. Its success is ensured by the wisdom of state leaders and efforts of ordinary citizens of both countries, the statement said.
'Today, Russia and Azerbaijan are strategic partners leading rich dialogue in the political, socio-economic, humanitarian and other spheres and interacting successfully in regional and international formats., the letter said.
Lavrov noted that this broad-based partnership has become a key factor for stability, peace and security in the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus.
'I note with satisfaction that we timed the release of the Russian-Azerbaijani bilateral documents signed between 1992 and 2012 on the anniversary date. The legal basis established for 20 years is oriented towards the future. It provides favourable conditions for further disclosure of the inexhaustible potential of the Russian -Azerbaijani relations in various fields', the statement said.
