Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 1/ Trend H.Valiyev /

Free IPv4 internet addresses are ending in Azerbaijani Internet, CEO of Intrans Company Faig Farmanov told Trend.

According Farmanov, the problem is becoming more and more urgent and AzNEt is not an exception.

"This is due to the rapid development of the Internet in Azerbaijan, as well as the popularity of wireless access through mobile phones and tablet computers which also require an IP-address. Migration from IPv4 to IPv6 protocol requires large financial investment, "he said.

Previously Farmanov mentioned that a successful transition to the new version of the protocol requires an upgrade of the hardware and software.

This is necessary for servers and routers working on IPv6 protocol to be compatible with those used by IPv4 protocol.

The need to transfer to IPv6 is down to several reasons, the main being the lack of address space.

Azerbaijani initial provider Delta Telecom previously purchased 4.2 billion IPv6 addresses. The acquisition of such a number of IP-address is due to the growing role of the company, infrastructure of which is currently engaged to provide online services to countries in the region.

The transition to the new protocol will directly affect the final users who will lack IP-addresses for the creation of websites and other resources, as well as content. This will provide users with several IP-addresses.

Transition of Azerbaijani Internet service providers to the new protocol is voluntary. However, Delta Telecom is ready to assist providers using the company's infrastructure in the transition to the new protocol.
