The Information Technology Institute of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences connected the Institute of Chemical Problems to the scientific network AzScienceNet, the institute told Trend on Monday.
The Institute said the Institute of Chemical Problems local computer network was fully created on the basis of intelligent switches and connected to a research network through fibre optic communication lines within the Institute's normal work.
This has allowed the members of the Institute to use the resources and services of the AzScienceNet network.
The institutions and branches of the academy will have access to 'cloud computing' services in the near future.
Currently, the service is under internal testing. Cloud services are based in the institute's DATA centre.
All the academy's branches will have access to the education roaming Eduroam.
The educational roaming service is based on the AzScienceNet scientific computer network. Eduroam allows employees of academic institutions and education systems to get free access to the Internet during journeys and trips.
An Eduroam user can connect to the Internet using credentials (username and password) which are only valid during the educational roaming service.
