Foreign trade surplus reduces fivefold in Azerbaijan during a year

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 22.42 percent in January-April 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, the committee said.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 126 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan hit $7.67 billion in January-April 2015, according to the report.

Black ink worth over $867.2 million was formed in foreign trade operations.
Foreign trade surplus exceeded $4.4 billion in January-April 2014.

About 3,990 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 2,456 being legal entities and 1,534 physical entities, according to the report.

Exports reached $4.27 billion in January-April 2015, which is 40.33 percent less compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $3.79 billion, the private sector share - $465.1 million and physical entities' share- $20.1 million.

Imports exceeded $3.4 billion as of January-April 2015, which is 24.46 percent more compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at $735.47 million, private sector share- $2.55 billion and physical entities share - $116.3 million.

At the same time, the volume of export amounted to $886.6 million, and import - $974.65 million in April 2015. As a result, foreign trade deficit in the amount of $88.03 million occurred last month.

About 1,180 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 5,025 imported to Azerbaijan in January-April 2015.
