Industrial production grows in Azerbaijan

From January through October 2019, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs working in this area in Azerbaijan produced industrial goods worth 38.1 billion manat ($22.4 billion), Trend reports referring to the country’s State Statistics Committee.

This is by 1.4 percent more than in the same period of 2018, according to the report.

The production in the non-oil sector of industry in Azerbaijan grew by 14.5 percent.

Some 70.3 percent of industrial goods were produced in the extractive sector, 24.9 percent accounted for the processing sector, 4.1 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.7 percent – for the waste transportation, treatment and recycling.

Oil production decreased by 3.3 percent, while commercial gas production increased by 27.8 percent during the reporting period.

During the reporting period, wood processing and manufacture of wood products grew by 85.3 percent, finished metal products - by 83.5 percent, tobacco products – by 67.6 percent, beverages - by 39.5 percent, computer, electronic and optical products - by 37.1 percent, industrial production - by 37 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 30.4 percent, furniture production - by 29.5 percent, chemical production - 26.5 percent, paper and cardboard production - 24.6 percent, printing products - by 23.9 percent, rubber and plastic products - 22.7 percent, pharmaceuticals - 20.8 percent, food products - 13.9 percent, clothes – 12 percent, electrical equipment - 6.8 percent, machinery and equipment - by 4 percent, and the production of building materials – by 3.8 percent.

The production of petroleum products decreased by 4.8 percent, products of the metallurgical industry - by 12.6 percent, leather and leather products, footwear - by 26.2 percent, cars, trailers and semi-trailers by 30.7 percent, other vehicles - by 10.8 percent.

The volume of the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 2.4 percent, while the volume of waste transportation, treatment and recycling – by 6.4 percent.
