Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Natig Mammadov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, reported on 10 April that Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin, residing in the occupied territory had applied to the Central Election Commission to ensure their voting right in the elections that are held in Azerbaijan.

According to Mammadov, the CEC cannot publicize the number and list of applicants, because the appeals were made unofficially. Due to the fact that the citizens face violence, they cannot exercise their rights.

The CEC applied to international organizations to add the citizens residing in the occupied territory to the electorate list. No reply has been received. The Secretary of the CEC considers that international organizations can render assistance in resolving the problem.

According to recent statistics, about 5,000 voters have been registered in Azerbaijan.
