Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / Maharram Aliyev, who was appointed Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tajikistan, submitted his accreditation to Tajikistan's President, Emomali Rakhmon, on 21 September, according to the Tajik President's official site.
Aliyev voiced his confidence to journalists that commencing the Azerbaijani Embassy's activities in Tajikistan will serve the interests of both people.
On 20 August, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan ordered the appointment of the former head of the Baku City Central Police Department, Lieutenant-General Maharram Aliyev to the position of Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tajikistan. Aliyev was discharged from the position of head of the Baku City Police Department at the end of June 2007.
