Experts do not rule out Falsification in Georgian Parliament Elections

Russia, Moscow, 19 May / corr. Trend R. Agayev, E. Rustamov/ The falsification is possible during the parliament elections in Georgia as the rating of the ruling party has dropped and quarter of the population is abroad in search of jobs.

"I am sure that there may be falsification as Saakashvili does not have any support in the Georgian society and the lists introduced by the ruling National Movement indicate the lack of the political unity in a period prior to the election campaign," said Giorgi Khaindrava, one of the opposition leaders of Georgia.

The parliament election in Georgia will be held on 21 May. The parliament of a new call will include 150 MPs. About 75 of them will be elected according to the party list on the basis of the exceeding 5% barrier and the other 75 MPs will be elected by majority.

In spite of the official statement that the chairman of the Election Commission will be dismissed after falsification in the previous 5 January presidential elections, it did not happen, Khandrava said. "The names of almost 1mln people were included in the voters' lists from the National Movement which is a big fraud," Khandrava said.

According to Khandrava, if there is falsification once again, 'everything can happen'. "Both opposition revolution and Georgian society will not allow it to happen again. In this case, the people decide themselves," he said.

"The falsification is possible during the parliament election in Georgia where a quarter of the population is abroad, especially in Russia in search of jobs," the Russian expert Jarikhin said.

"The voters' lists and the composition of the election committees have not been disclosed for a long time, therefore, falsification is possible to a great degree," Jarikhin, the deputy director of the CIS Institute said to Trend .

According to the expert, in fact, the ruling part will gain 45% of the votes and will try to increase this figure in the parliament by means of the administrative resources.

The political expert is sure that the campaign of a verbal war with Russia waged by the Georgia yielded certain results and the rating of the ruling party has already started rising. According to Jarikhin, the dissociation in the opposition will also contribute to it.
