"Frozen Conflicts Must be Solved through Non-force Methods" – Russia’s President

Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 June / Trend corr A. Gasimova/ The positions of Russia and the European Union (EU) are based on non-force methods for solving of international conflicts.

"We adhere to international law, political but non-force methods for solving of 'frozen conflicts', to making the negotiations more multilateral and to improvement of collective basis in the world policy," Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev said during joint press conference of Russia-EU summit participants in Khanty-Mansiysk on 27 June.

According to Medvedev, when it comes to 'frozen conflicts', the basic approaches of Russia and EU to security issues are the same. "Russia and EU have rich experience in foreign political interaction and are ready for further practical steps to improve security in Europe and the entire world," he said.

On 27 June, the Russia-EU summit commenced with a high-level meeting which included Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev, Slovenian Prime Minister, who is currently chairing EU, Janez Janša, chairman of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barosso, as well as EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana.
