Iran Launches Second Satellite to Outer Space (UPDATED)

Iran's second satellite Kavus 2 was launched to the outer space on November 26. The carrier rocket returned to Earth, official website of Iran's TV channel reported.

The purpose of the launching was to test the transmitters, proper fulfilment of instructions and the returning system.

Kavus 2 was equipped with three carriers, a space analysis set and a returning system.

In August 2008, Iran launched Safir carrier rocket to the orbit. It was aimed not to put Iran's first satellite Omid to the orbit, but to test its analogue.

Launching of Safir, which was created by Iranian specialists, was the second successful flight in the history of country's carrier rockets. Official Tehran possessing Sinah-1 satellite, which was launched to the orbit in October 2005 along with Kosmos-ZM manufactured in Russia, stated further rapid development of Iran's space technologies.

In February, Iran's first space centre was put into operation. Thereby, Iran became the 11th country possessing projecting, manufacturing and technology of satellite launching to the circumterrestrial orbit.

The United States is alarmed at Iran's satellite testing.
