Georgia warns foreigners not to pay bribery on borders

Georgia, Tbilisi. Jan. 12 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia / The Georgian police takes preventive measures against illegal intersection of country's border. The Georgian Foreign Ministry said that warnings will be hung out for this purpose in the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Turkish languages on the boundaries. It will say giving of bribe to police in order to cross border will be punished with seven years of imprisonment.

According to the Ministry, it has to take this step since 11 citizens from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia, while trying to cross the border, were detained.

Since Jan. 1, 2009 the border of Georgia is guarded by police officers instead of frontier-guards.
