Kodori Gorge administration head Zaza Gurchiani was shot dead at his residence in Sukhumi in Abkhazia at noon on Feb. 13. Gurchiani was appointed by the Abkhaz people.
According to Georgian media, Gurchiani was taken from Kodori to Sukhumi on Feb. 12.
The incident followed a quarrel between the nephew of former rebel and Kodori Gorge Governor Emzar Kvitsiani Bacho Argvliani and the local population.
Gurchiani supported the local residents protesting illegal actions committed by Argvliani and his gang.
