Georgia needs transparent dialogue between authorities and opposition: EU Special Representative for South Caucasus

Recent demonstrations in Georgia, raised concerns of partners, as they are staging on the background of newest history, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby said at a briefing in Tbilisi.

He stressed that EU observed the demonstration by the Georgian government's request.

"The request was made by the authorities, and yesterday we held a meeting with opposition representatives. The opposition was satisfied that we would observe the demonstration," Semneby said.

EU Representative said that the authorities and opposition are ready to provide "constructive development" of the situation. "Today's demonstration justified our hopes, as Georgia needs an open dialogue," he said.
