Georgia, Tbilisi, May 25 / Trend , N.Kirtshalia /
At the Foreign Ministry of Georgia, a copy of the annual national plan was handed over to NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for South Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons on May 25, the Foreign Minister of Georgia Grigol Vashadze said after the meeting.
According to him, the meeting focused on Georgia's entrance to the NATO, internal political situation in the country, situation in the occupied territories and the Geneva talks.
"There was a complete understanding between us. Simmons confirmed that the cooperation between NATO and Georgia is developing as it is necessary for both sides," said Vashadze.
In his turn, Simmons noted that the annual national plan is a step forward the way to NATO, and the plan will bring Georgia closer with the Alliance. "We will assess it in the end of the year," said Simmons.
Answering the question when Georgia is admitted to NATO, Simmons replied that it was said at the Bucharest summit that Georgia will be a NATO member, though "the schedule and date were not clarified". According to him, one of the determining factors in this will be how Georgia will conduct the reforms.
However, he stressed that the Alliance is concerned by the situation in the occupied territories, and once again called on Russia to fulfill its commitments.
