Egyptian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mohamed Alaa Eldin Ali Shawky El Hadidi presented his credentials today to Turkmen Parliamentary Speaker Akja Nurberdiyeva, a state press service reported.
El Hadidi said Egypt appreciates the constructive peacemaking policy of Turkmenistan. He made a number of proposals for further expansion of bilateral relations.
Trade-economic sphere was named as the main direction of partnership. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing cultural exchange, which "is linked with the historical and spiritual closeness of the two peoples."
In addition, the sides noted the need to establish inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries to "enhance mutual understanding and trust, further expansion of constructive dialogue".
The Egyptian diplomat was also received at the Foreign Ministry, where the sides mulled the prospects of long-term partnership.
