Azerbaijan, Baku, April 8 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The recent rally in Baku was a joint protest by political and religious radicals, MP Zahid Oruj said.

"Religious influence on the state administration was observed during the rally," he said. "At the next stage, we will see the opposition uniting with religious entities, as some forces plan to export religion to Azerbaijan. The opposition's main goal is to get on CNN, Al-Jazeera and other international TV channels."

He said information was disseminated that the People's Front of Libya signed an agreement with President Nicolas Sarkozy.

"According to the agreement, roughly 35 percent of Libya's oil revenues will be transferred to Sarkozy," he said. "Therefore, Sarkozy is called 'Mr. 35.' In this case, perhaps, the Azerbaijani opposition has also signed a similar agreement with outside forces. I have no doubt that such an obligation has been taken."

The Public Chamber tried to hold a rally in Baku on April 2. The unauthorized protest was prevented by police.
