Azerbaijan's Consul General in Los Angeles (USA) Elin Suleymanov stressed Azerbaijan's strategic role in Eurasia and the country's contribution to intercultural dialogue, while addressing a workshop at the annual conference of America's leading academic center, Pacific Council on International Policy, the Consulate General told Trend.

A forum held in Azerbaijan on this topic was cited as an example. Suleymanov underlined the importance of strengthening tolerance, raising living standards of the population, regional integration and refusal from radicalism to create long-term prospects of developing democratic institutions.

Touching upon the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the U.S. in the sphere of security and energy projects, Suleymanov stressed the importance of Washington's consistency in approaching the region.

Along with the Azerbaijani diplomat, the Consul General of Israel Jacob Dayan, Consul General of Hungary Balázs Bokor, an employee of the RAND analytical center Dalia Kaye and Chapman University professor James Coyle addressed the workshop. The attendees discussed developments in the Middle East, U.S. policy in the region and international security issues.
