Azerbaijani police continue battling crime and aiming to ensure the country's stability, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov said at an event devoted to launching the 2009/2010 academic year at the Police Academy and Police Day.

He expressed confidence that police will further uphold peace in the country.

"Internal stability lies in Azerbaijan's economic development. Sustainable development has occurred in other spheres as a result of domestic stability and peace," Usubov said.

He said that policies initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev are continuing under Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev with positive outcomes.

"Economic, political and legal transformations have made Azerbaijan a strong state not only in the region, but also in Europe," he said.

Every citizen welcomes the police's work in preserving the country's internal stability and tranquility, he said.

"The most modern technical means is used in Azerbaijan in the fight against crime. Law enforcement agencies are provided with all modern technology. Telephone service system 102 and the" Safe City" system by the Interior Ministry are effective in combating crime," Usubov said.

He said the country has built dozens of office buildings for the district and city police departments.

Usubov congratulated the graduates and presented them with certificates, after which the personnel ended the ceremony with a traditional march.
