Sweden will expand its diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan, Ambassador of Sweden Mikael Eriksson said on Wednesday.
Eriksson said the opening of the Sweden Embassy in Azerbaijan, most likely, will take place in autumn 2012.
There is a consulate of Sweden operating in Azerbaijan.
Eriksson said there is a great political, industrial, and trade potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Sweden.
"I think that Azerbaijan and Sweden are also able to cooperate in the field of renewable energy," the ambassador said.
He noted that a number of Swedish companies is ready to provide equipment in the oil and gas field.
Speaking about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Eriksson said Sweden, supports the international efforts in this direction, as well as the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group.
"Of course, the conflict can only be solved by peaceful means. Parties must come together and find consensus," Eriksson added.
