Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which are located far from the Black Sea region will now be able to cooperate with the countries of the region, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) Ramil Hasanov told Trend on Thursday.
According to him, these opportunities appeared after TurkPA achieved observer status in the Parliamentary Assembly of BSEC (PABSEC)

At the 40th meeting of the PABSEC General Assembly in Baku TurkPA was given observer status in the organization.

This status will expand cooperation not only with member states of the organization, but also with parliamentary associations of regional importance, Hasanov said.

Parliamentary diplomacy has come to play a significant role in the system of international relations, the TurkPA secretary general said.

"The experience of the past 20 years shows that the inter-parliamentary relations are widely used in conflict resolution, development of bilateral relations in the economic and political sphere. Cooperation between PABSEC and TurkPA which are regional parliamentary associations, and adoption of joint communique will create conditions for progress in the region" Hasanov said.

TurkPA secretary general added that membership of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the TurkPA could create new opportunities for the parliaments of these countries.

"By becoming members of TurkPA brotherly Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, which have high level bilateral relations with Azerbaijan will be able to participate in the process of multilateral cooperation," he said.
