According to the German Ambassador in Azerbaijan Herbert Quelle economic relations between Germany and Azerbaijan should develop.
The two countries have established a bilateral working group at governmental level, with the next meeting scheduled for July, the ambassador told journalists on Thursday.
The diplomat appreciated the religious tolerance of Azerbaijan. He also announced he is completing his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan in July.
"Germany supports the Southern Gas Corridor project," the ambassador said.
According to him, the export of gas to Europe is the main thing, rather than the choice of the Nabucco West or TAP pipeline project.
Speaking about the political relations between the two countries, the diplomat said Azerbaijan and Germany regularly work on the development of these relations and periodically organise mutual visits at foreign ministerial level and hold political consultations.
The diplomat also called upon the Azerbaijani authorities to pay more attention to the issues of democracy, provision of human rights, media and holding a dialogue with the population.
