Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported that a new candidate has been nominated for Israel's ambassador to Azerbaijan and the information was confirmed by Israel's embassy in the country.

The candidacy of Dan Stav, who previously served as Israel's ambassador to Nepal, has been nominated for Israel's new ambassador to Azerbaijan, the country's embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend.

"The appointment hasn't been approved and the exact date of the appointment hasn't been fixed yet. Currently, Rafael Harpaz is the Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan and continues to carry out his duties," the embassy said.

The embassy said that the appointment of new candidate Stav must be approved by both Azerbaijani and Israeli governments.

"After the two governments approve his appointment, Stav will begin serving as ambassador next summer," the embassy said.

Israel has also nominated the candidacies of new ambassadors to other countries as well.
Harpaz took up his duties as an ambassador to Azerbaijan in 2012.
