Azerbaijan’s international authority is growing under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of China Kong Xuanyou said at an official reception in Beijing arranged by the Azerbaijani Embassy in China on the occasion of the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the embassy said in a message May 29.
Other officials, representatives of various ministries of China, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Beijing, well-known public figures of the country, journalists, scientists, representatives of business circles, as well as members of the Azerbaijani diaspora in China took part in the event along with the Chinese deputy foreign minister.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to China Akram Zeynalli spoke at the event in detail about the period of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic’s existence. Zeynalli said that despite a short period of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic’s existence, a number of advanced political and economic reforms were implemented and women were granted suffrage even earlier than in most countries.
Touching upon the relations between Azerbaijan and China, the ambassador said these relations are based on friendship and mutual trust, and characterized them as multifaceted serious partnership relations distinguished by high dynamics of development.
Kong Xuanyou conveyed his congratulations to the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of this significant holiday and said Azerbaijan is an important country in the South Caucasus region, which has an ancient history and civilization.
The Chinese deputy foreign minister added that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the country has passed the path of sustainable development.
Xuanyou noted that the friendship and cooperation between China and Azerbaijan over the past 26 years of the existence of diplomatic relations have a solid and stable basis.
