BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. So far, 438 Azerbaijani citizens have been evacuated from the earthquake zone in Türkiye, Trend reports citing Azerbaijani MFA.

"Work continues to identify citizens of Azerbaijan affected by the devastating earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmarash and other provinces of Türkiye, and to provide assistance to them.

So far, 438 citizens of Azerbaijan and their close relatives, who are foreign citizens, have been evacuated from the earthquake zone in Türkiye to the country, of which 58 are children, and 209 - students. The evacuation process continues.

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Türiye found that 4 citizens of Azerbaijan - Safarov Fuad, Askerov Hasangulu, Garayev Nijat and Valiyev Namaz. Embassy staff met with Azerbaijani citizens. Citizens said that their state of health is normal.

For today, we received information about the death of 5 citizens of Azerbaijan as a result of the earthquake: Bunyatova Nailya, born in 1980, Mamedova (Okten) Rena, born in 1973, Mamedova Sevinj, born in 1975, Karly Leila Vahid, born in 1976, Hasanzade Ilaha, born in 1974. Contact was established with the relatives of the victims. Karly Leyla will be buried in Türkiye. Appropriate measures are being taken to send the bodies of 4 people to Azerbaijan. May Allah rest the souls of the dead!," the MFA said.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 hit southeastern Türkiye on Feb. 6, 2023. The earthquake occurred at a depth of seven kilometers in the Pazarcik region of Kahramanmaras Province. The provinces of Hatay, Gaziantep, Kilis, Osmaniye, Malatya, Adiyaman, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Adana and Kahramanmaras were subjected to the severe destruction.

The quake’s epicenter was located 26 km away from the city of Gaziantep with a population of about 1.06 million.

Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said that three more earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.4-6.6 rocked Gaziantep province in south-eastern Türkiye. As a result of the earthquake that hit Türkiye, strong tremors were also felt in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Cyprus.
