BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. The polling stations have already been equipped with webcams, said Deputy Chairman of Central Election Commission (CEC) Rovzat Gasimov during the meeting of the commission, Trend reports.

According to Gasimov, webcams have been installed at 1000 polling stations, the process of technical regulation is underway and will be completed next week.

CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov noted that only CEC webcams should operate at polling stations during the election. He added that there are fire safety cameras at polling stations in secondary schools, but international organizations also sometimes express claims on this issue.

On December 7, 2023, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on holding an extraordinary presidential election in the country on February 7, 2024.

The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) on Dec. 19 approved the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev, nominated by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), for participation in the extraordinary presidential election.

A total of 17 candidates have been registered to run in the extraordinary presidential election. Azerbaijan has seven registered presidential candidates.
