The Council of Europe supports the process of reforms in Azerbaijan, the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Rene van der Linden stated at the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 22 August, Trend reports.
Speaking out, that the solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the most important issue for Azerbaijan, the PACE chairman voiced satisfaction with the moves taken towards peaceful settlement of the conflict. He reported, he discussed the issue with the leadership of Armenia in Erevan and voiced hope for the soonest possible solution of the conflict.
Ilham Aliyev said the present visit creates a good opportunity for discussion of issues of the mutual interest. He informed of the large work conducted in the country in the field of the democratization of the society and added, the current visit will serve the closest familiarity with it.
