President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent on 25 November a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 100-anniversary of the first trade union organization and the 85-anniversary of the establishment of the central trade union body in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
The former President Heydar Aliyev after his second coming to power in 1993 kept the trade unions from the influence of political forces and averted breakdown of their material base. This year the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan was established and in 1994 the law “On trade unions” was adopted.
I would like to note, for today, the trade unions of Azerbaijan established close ties with international institutions.
I believe sincerely, that trade unions will bravely defend the rights of citizens.
