Colonel General Safar Abiyev, the Azerbaijani Defense Minister, received on Thursday a Capestown group of the US National Defense University comprised of high ranking officers under leadership of the General Joseph Goar, the Azerbaijani Defense Minister told Trend .
The Minister informed the guests about the economic development and integration of Azerbaijan into the European security bodies. He noted that the progressive development of the Azerbaijani-US cooperation. The cooperation is of strategic character.
General Joseph Goar, in his turn said that Capestown attaches great importance to the US-Azerbaijan cooperation.
Touching upon the military-political situation in the South-Caucasus region and the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict Abiyev said that ignoring the international rule of law Armenia continues the occupant policy and keeps under occupation 20% of the Azerbaijani territory. The leader of Armenia holds destructive position in the resolution of the conflict, places non-registered arms in the Azerbaijani lands and uses the territory for illegal purposes.
In the conclusion the Minister answered the guests question on the military-political situation in the region, development of Armed forces of Azerbaijan and NATO.
