Recommendations by the OSCE and the CE Venice Commission on changes to the Elections Code of Azerbaijan remain unchanged. Part of them are still of focus of discussions, Mauricio Pavesi, the head of the Baku Office of OSCE told Trend.

The improvement of the elections system will have a positive impact on inner political situation in the country, he stressed.

Baku hosted a seminar with the representatives of authorities and opposition at the initiative of OSCE. Participants in the event discussed positive and negative aspects of majority and proportional elections systems, which testifies for OSCE interest in the improvement of elections system in Azerbaijan, he underscored.

Touching the rehabilitation of OSCE efforts for continuing talks between the authorities and opposition of Azerbaijan, Pavesi noted that his office at the moment does not plans to come out with such proposals. We will wait until completion of re-run parliamentary elections scheduled for 13 May 2006, he underlined.
