TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 7. The Japanese Sojitz Corporation and Qatar’s Nebras Power are willing to invest in the construction of a 1 GW wind power plant under the JCM (Joint Credit Mechanism), which is planned to be built in Uzbekistan’s Navoi region, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, the issue was reviewed at a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Center of Green Economy Projects with representatives of Sojitz Corporation and Nebras Power.
The sides discussed renewable energy projects and the sale of the resulting reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue mutual cooperation.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan and Emirati Amea Power signed an agreement on the construction of a wind power plant with a total capacity of 1,000 MW in Karakalpakstan. The total cost of the project is $1.1 billion.
At the same time, Uzbekistan signed an agreement with Saudi ACWA Power for the construction of a 5,000 MW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan. The total cost of the project is $6.2 billion.
