January to February in agriculture is traditionally symbolized as a sowing period. The silence is observed in the cattle breeding. Despite unfavorable weather conditions 27,900h, 3.9% more than 2005, has been sown. Rise in spring sowing is explained with expansion of the perennials areas.
In January to February 2006 potato sown areas grew 8,600h, or 1%, 6,100h, or 3.2% are vegetables, of 1,100h, or 2.6% - grains excluding corns.

In January to February 2006 the meat and milk production increased. Meat production made up 42,800 tons, milk - 189,900 tons and eggs 136.1 million pieces. The production rose 3.9% and 4% respectively as compared to last year.
The spread of bird flu in the country impeded the stable development of agriculture in Azerbaijan. The population reduced the consumption of chicken, which actually resulted in cut the output of broiler factories. The chicken production fell 0.3% as compared to 0.3% and eggs production 2.2%

In this period the agrarian production grew 3.5% in cirrent prices, while the planting prices weny up 1.4% and cattle breeding 3.6%.
In this period production prices of grains grew 5%, potato - 3%, vegetables 2.1%, whereas fruit prices reduced 0.3%. Moreover, planting production rose 1.4%, cattle-breeding 3.6%. The total production grew 3.5%.
