Azerbaijani opposition that calls itself as democratic has always been the victim of its ambitions, the Co-chairman of Azerbaijan Social-Democratic Party (ASDP) Araz Alizade told Trend, commenting on the current situation with several oppositional forces that want to boycott 2008 presidential elections.

In addition, Alizade said that they will participate in 2008 presidential elections.

He stressed that the opposition will not have a unified candidate in the forthcoming presidential elections. ASDP has enough high level of forces to participate with its candidate, he underlined.

ASDP Chairman also expressed his attitude towards the position of several oppositional forces to boycott the upcoming presidential elections. He emphasized that these elections will bring no successes to them. Moreover, he pointed out that the weakness of the Azerbaijani opposition calling itself as democratic is that they have always become the victim of their ambitions, Alizade added.

The opposition ASDP was created in 1990. One of the co-founder of the party is the ex-Azerbaijani President Ayaz Mutallibov who has been living in Moscow in emigration.
