Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend P.Amirjanov / On 29 March the President of Azerbaijan made a statement regarding the Genocide Day of the Azerbaijanis - 31 March. The statement deals with the crimes committed by the Armenians against Azeri people over the recent two centuries. Initiated by the National Leader of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Heydar Aliyev, 31 March has been marked as a Genocide Day of Azerbaijan at the State Level since 1998. Although this history is linked with the genocide committed by the Armenian Armed Forces against the Azerbaijanis at the end of March 1918, its chronicle is more extensive. The goal of the military, political and ideological policies of the Armenian nationalists against Azeri people was to drive out the Azerbaijanis from their native lands and create mythical "Great Armenia".
