Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. K. Zarbaliyeva/ An organized crime gang, which engaged in drug trafficking and trade via the route - "Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia-Japan", has been neutralized due to certain operational and searching measures, taken on by the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry. About 68 kg of drugs were confiscated as a result of this neutralization.
Trend was told today by the Centre for Public Relations of the National Security Ministry, a resident of the district of Jalilabad of Azerbaijan, Dashgin Javadov, residents of the city of Ali-Bayramli of Azerbaijan, Chingiz Aliyev and his brother Royam Aliyev, Yusuf Garakhanov, a resident of the town of Yardimli, Rafig Taghiyev (born in Ali-Bayramli), and temporarily residing in Baku and Bahtiyar Husseynov, as well as several citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who are currently being identified by investigators, andother persons were included in a so-called "criminal contract", to smuggle great volumes of drug substances via the Iranian-Azerbaijani border.
It was established that Mr. Dashgin Javadov told Rafig Taghiyev to obtain drug substances from Iranian citizens and deliver the ordered drugs to him. Having successfully crossed the state border far from the frontier point, he delivered the drugs to the village of Astanli of the district of Yardimli of Azerbaijan and then sent them to Dashgin Javadov in the town of Jalilabad in Azerbaijan.
The latter, for his part, handed over the drugs to the brothers Chingiz and Royam Aliyev. It was evident that once obtaining the drugs, the Aliyevs intended to deliver the different drug substances to their sister Khuraman Alizadeh in the Russian southern resort of Pyatigorsk, by using different people as drug couriers. Due to operational and searching measures, the next delivery of the regular consignment of drugs did not take place in time, and members of the criminal groups were detained. On detaining members of the group, 67 kg and 414 grams of different drug substances were seized from cars and apartments belonging to members of the gang.
According to existing facts, a criminal case on Articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1, 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan republic was initiated by the Public Prosecutor's Office. The members of the organized crime gang were detained as suspects. At the decision of the court, the arrested were detained in custody.
