( Interfax ) - The place and date of a meeting between Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II and Pope Benedict XVI will only be determined after all current controversies have been removed, the Russia Orthodox Church said.

"Church leaders should meet in a place where both would feel at home," chairman of the Moscow Patriarchy' External Church Relations Department, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad told journalists on Thursday in Paris, where he is accompanying the Patriarch during his visit to France.

There is still a number of problems between the two Churches, which are related primarily with the expansion of Greek Catholics into Ukraine and conversions to Catholicism which have taken place in the in the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchy.
