Rule Changes Made to Entrance Exams in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 January / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / Changes were introduced to the entrance examinations for Higher Universities of Azerbaijan in 2008, Maleyka Abbaszadeh, the chairman of the State Commission on Student Admission, said during a meeting in Baku on 10 January.

"Twenty-five issues will be made on each of the four subjects. The number of issues was twenty in 2007. Thirty issues were included in the Azerbaijani language for the Russian sector. In 2007, the number of issues was 25. The psychology specialty was transformed from the 3rd to the 4th group. The marks on physics and mathematic subjects will also be changed," Abbaszadeh said.

All the amendments will be published in the first edition of the Abiturient magazine. Abbaszadeh noted that the entrance points have not been defined as yet.

In 2007, the number of entrance points was 200-250 points. The State Commission will hold a statistic analysis after the preliminary test, which will be held on 13 January in Baku and Nakhchivan and on 27 January in the regions. Mass tests will be held within the country from March. "We will define the entrance points as soon as the State submits to the Commission the plan of place to hold exam," Abbaszadeh stated.

According to, Abbaszadeh, the State Commission hopes that students who achieve over 350 points will be eligible to enter a University.
