Broadcasting Time of Turkish Films Exceeds Norm on Azerbaijani Channels

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 March / Trend corr. E.Huseyinli / The National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan has reported that the broadcasting time of Turkish films has exceeded the norm in Azerbaijan.

"Initial results of monitoring reveals that broadcasting of Turkish films on some channels exceeds two hours a day," Nushirevan Maharramli, chairman of the Council, stated to Trend on 14 March.

By the Council's decision from 1 January 2008, a prohibition was imposed to broadcast films in foreign languages. A limit was specified for films in the Turkish language from 10 - 14 hours per week.

The number of Turkish-made films is to be reduced in the country. The results of the monitoring on broadcasting of films in the Turkish language will be announced at the end of March and early April, Maharramli said.
