Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 April / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Natig Allahverdiyev, the head of Farmer -agricultural production association Zeytun Baglari, was detained in Baku on 1 April, the Republic Prosecutor Office of Azerbaijan reported.
Allahverdiyev's detention was due to the attack on Agil Khalil, an employee of Azadlig opposition party.
On 13 March at about 8.00pm, Agil Khalil, a journalist of the Azadlig newspaper, was stabbed in the chest by some unknown assailants. He was immediately taken to the Musa Nagiyev medical centre, where he was operated on.
A critical article by Khalil, about the activity of Farmer-agricultural production association Zeytun Baglari, was published.
The name of Allahverdiyev's brother Dagbayi Allahverdiyev was mentioned among the persons blamed in physical force against the journalist.
A criminal case has been filed over the fact in compliance with the Article 320 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijani State.
Republic Prosecutor Office, jointly with Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, are investigating the damage caused by Allahverdiyev to the land plots.
