United States gymnast Morgan Hamm will miss the Beijing Olympics after failing to recover from an ankle injury in time, the dpa reported.
The 26-year-old has struggled with an inflamed left ankle and will be replaced by Sasha Artemev. Hamm tested positive for glucocorticosteroid, a cortisone-like anti-inflammatory, in May but the gymnastics federation FIG cleared him of doping.
Hamm's twin brother Paul, the all-around Olympic champion from Athens, already pulled out of this year's games with a shoulder injury.
